WikiHow: Resetting Your iPod Nano 6th Generation

If your iPod Nano is freezes - ie, it appears to be as dead as a doornail with a black screen and not responding to the native or headset buttons - WikiHow has a fix.

All you need do is to press and hold both the Power button and the Volume Down button for about 8 seconds.

The Apple logo should appear if the reset happens correctly.  Then the iPod will start as normal

If th reset process doesn't appear to work on the first try, repeat the process a few times.

However, if you can't get your iPod to reset this way, plug it into a power adapter or into your computer. While it is charging, try the reset process again.
