Zoom video processing and a power cut

Recently I finished a webinar, and - as I had screen-cast and recorded the webinar using Zoom with the 'record' function on, the video started automatically converting and saving on my PC. Perfect.

Until everything went black. We suddenly had an unexpected power cut. When the power came back on, and I was very grateful that the power hadn't gone off during the session... until suddenly realised that I had no idea whether the webinar video had finished processing or not.

I went searching on my hard drive, but the folder was not where I expected it to be. Blast: it had obviously not processed properly. However, it was an easy leap from there to simply run a Google search for "lost my video processing from my Zoom webinar due to a power cut", and find a solution.

An answer popped up from the Zoom Help Centre (2020) which gave me the perfect answer, right at the bottom of the webpage:
  1. Sign in to the Zoom Desktop Client
  2. Click the Meeting tab
  3. Click the Recorded tab
  4. Select the meeting topic with the local recording
  5. Click Convert.
Ah! So easy when you know how.
