The "Do you want the following" argh!!!!

A helpful recent MS upgrade in May this year gave me a perpetual "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer" on opening all MS Office software. This happened even if one iteration of the software was open already.

It is quite surprising how very, very quickly something so small can drive you to sky-rocketing levels of demented-ness.

The terrible thing was that I had no idea how to get rid of it. In the end it looked like a Windows update error, and to repair it, I had to roll back the previous two Windows updates. The problem then went away. I am going to postpone Windows updates for a few months until - hopefully - the problem is rectified in future patches.

Before doing the roll-back I tried a few things, but nothing worked. I had to give in, as I was wasting too much time on trying to find a solution. Sometimes we just need to undo.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone else who struck the same issue earlier in 2018.
