The Lowy Institute

The current pandemic certainly makes us think about how our different governments do things: from differing philosophical viewpoints, economic decisions, social health strategies, travel restrictions, and freedom of movement. As an individual, it is difficult to get a gauge on how all those multiple elements feed into each other.

However, the Lowy Institute has done a lot of that work for us. They have evaluated the "relative performance" of 116 nations (those with enough data available), using: confirmed case data, death rates, test data, population data, and an evaluation of the geo-political situation.

Data has been grouped into regions, but we can drill down to look at nations or smaller national groups. We can obtain an overview: or filter for political systems; population size; or economic development. We can compare particular nations. Check out https://interactives.lowyinstitute.org/features/covid-performance/

It's an eye opener.
