S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G and compressing fonts in PowerPoint

I remember being able to stretch PowerPoint text in the past, to narrow it, and so forth. But it had been so long since I did this last, that I could not remember how to do it.

However, now that I have once more worked out how to do it, and thought I would share the instructions here! Banking it for future reference, so to speak.

In our PowerPoint slide deck:

  • On the Insert ribbon, we select WordArt, then select one - any one - of the Word Art styles from the drop-down box
  • Enter some text
  • Select the text box by clicking on the outline (or by keying Escape once)
  • Select the "Shape Format" ribbon | Text Effects | Transform
  • Under the "Warp" option, select the first "abcde"
We can stretch the image wider, narrow it, make it taller, etc. Too easy when we can remember how.
